Episode 2 - Aadha Hissa - A Partnership. A Promise. Half of Nothing.
Plot of Episode 2
Dev Malhotra is a gifted chef who leaves a five-star hotel kitchen to open a restaurant with his rich childhood friend Rohan. They shake on a fifty-fifty deal, with no paperwork. Rohan handles the space and the customers, and Dev does the cooking, the morning market runs, and the work of two men. By year-end the restaurant has made ₹70 lakh, and Rohan hands Dev an envelope with ₹7 lakh. When Dev protests, Rohan and his fiancée Simran mock him: he is “just a cook,” and his wife should be grateful their daughter even gets an education. Dev swallows it because he has no contract and Rohan holds all the money. At Rohan’s lavish new mansion, Dev watches everyone praise Rohan for success that Dev’s hands built. An old restaurateur, Mr. Verma, tells him the crowds come for his food and asks why he doesn’t open his own place. With his wife Gauri’s support, Dev rents a closed-down shop, paints the walls himself, and quits. At first only two tables fill. Then, one dish at a time, a line of customers wraps around the lane. Rohan’s own restaurant empties out. Furious, Rohan storms into Dev’s packed restaurant and demands fifty-fifty of the new business. Dev answers calmly: when Rohan handed him seven lakh, where was fifty-fifty?
